tweedle dee dee

twitterstorySpeaking of peeps, do you Twitter? Twitter.com is kind of this weird “micro-blog platform” where you join, have a profile and you basically get 140 characters to let people know what you are doing, like right now…Like I literally just tweeted “rambling on…why do I talk and write so much when I’m overtired…any theories?” and whoever follows my “tweets” (my Tweeple, haha) can read that…and tweet back or not, mostly not. But it is kinda fun, to say weird random things (like: “Ask me if I’m a Tree…”) or let people know about a cool or funny link or a sale or freebies! Twitter is getting really big and fast…you can even tweet from your mobile device like a text message….

That’s me raving about Twitter in an email I sent recently to a girlfriend about the online social messaging utility (some peeps -like me!- prefer to call it a micro-blogging platform). Do you twitter, I mean twit…er…tweet…um…twip? Lots of different terms floating about out there, but I think Twitter is my new social media crush. As I have posted previously I tend to be an introverted person (really!) so Twitter is great for me. I can tweet 140 characters at a time about my day or sites and info I have found, my latest blog posts and weekly features or just tweet for the hell of it. Random tweets are the new Pink, as they say…ok, well I’m the only one saying that -but it’s my tweet, go get your own! (wink!) When you sign up for Twitter, also check out socialtoo.com it will help you manage all of your social networking “nests” (facebook and identi.ca to name two), help you create your own surveys (visit my facebook or follow me on Twitter to take the “how many tweets” quiz), track your Twitter stats, block spam from your accounts and set up and auto-message for your new followers. There is still much for me to learn about Twitter, it is evolving and expanding quite rapidly (i.e. sites such as Twitpic), if you’re still not sure about joining Twitter check out this video from the CommonCraft on YouTube. Also, if you’re a creative entrepreneur you may want to check out this recent post on Craft Millionaire, a blog with “tips on how to build a strong craft business and increase earnings.”
