When my sister and I were little we would make forts in our shared bedroom with blankets over folding card tables. We would camp out in there and have pretend picnics with pretend food. We’d do the same when we played outside, making fabulous mud pies or harvesting milk weeds and pretending they were fish filets. We held elaborate faux feasts in a small clearing surrounded by tall trees next to the house. In one corner of the clearing there was a tree with leaves that turned pink in the fall. The pink leaves littered the floor of our make-believe house like a shag carpet. We called it the “pink room”. I’ve rounded up some lovely pretend play items from Etsy sellers, all of which I would have loved to play with when I was little (ok, I’d play with them now too!)
