creative business :: Atelier Gilet

“My name is Nadia. I was born in the lovely town of Arco (Italy) in 1977. I spent my childhood in the countryside: there, devouring books and fruits of the campaign on my favourite olive tree, I grew up and, with me, grew a pressing call to everything concerning art, illustration and artistic techniques….” Atelier Gilet

Illustration + design + porcelain = Atelier Gilet.  Nadia’s shop is very new to Etsy but I’d say, if her adorable works are any indication, she is right at home there. I love The Gondolierbrooch (though, we all know I’m quite partial to beagles!). I’ve developed a porcelain obsession of late. I had no idea it was so versatile. Nadia shares her new projects and her process on her blog (she translates each post to english for us, love that). Her mini cities series is genius. I think they’ll sell like little porcelain hotcakes! Thanks for brightening our Friday, Nadia!

all you need is love

I must admit that Valentine’s Day is not really my kind of holiday. Not had very much luck with it the last, oh I don’t know, 15 or so years. But I’m not bitter! I’m not too great at pretending things so I did not get around to putting any valentine kits in the shop this year– I created a treasury instead.

OH! and I almost forgot…there is a nifty giveaway over a Lou, What, Wear today. You could win a Print Pretty printable planner AND calendar for the cost of a mere comment…go check it out.

chevron craze

MORE chevron. It seems the pattern that was so popular “last year” is still highly coveted. I’m currently diggin’ the multi-color, and the subtle palettes (gray on gray). I’m THISCLOSE to posting the new planner designs in the shop. I’ve improved the functionality and added more page options (hear that fellow list making lovelies?). Wish me a productive weekend, won’t you? HAPPY FRIDAY YA’LL!

Etsy love :: creature feature

My latest treasury. Are you ready for Halloween? It’s started to cool down here (finally) and it feels like Fall. Well, okay it’s a Florida type Fall but I’ll work with what I’ve got. I’m finished painting the living room and I’ve been willing my futon to become a sofa for grown ups but it’s not working. I put a rug down that I had before Mac arrived and he’s already christened it. Ew. I refuse to roll it back up though. I’ve spent the last six months with skeletal living spaces and I want my pillows, rugs and other pre-monster comforts back. Toilet paper on the toilet paper holder should not be considered a luxury…know what I mean?

So, I thought, maybe after work today I could go pick out a pumpkin. No carving for me this year though. Not without supervision, I’m way too accident prone (trip to ER in June, broken finger in Sept., and I’ve stopped keeping track of all the curling iron mishaps…). I’ve decided I’ll paint my pumpkin (big surprise, I’m on a painting spree lately). Fun!

Etsy love :: you raaaaaang?

I’ve decided to create one treasury a week. This is last week’s set of lovelies. It probably takes me 2 hours to create these lists because, like Pinterest, Etsy has a way of sweeping you into the vortex. I find a lot of new (awesome) shops this way, so I don’t mind a bit. The beaglesaurus is inclined to disagree.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about painting (and redecorating) my living room. It seems that just about the time I forget how hard it was to paint the last room (my office) I start wanting to paint another. Still, I’ll probably do it. Anyone know where I can get a puppy proof couch?

shop update & whatnots

Couple updates in the shop: new printable for kids (cuteness!) and 2 more printable desk calendars, along with a dorky print that I explained in my other, other blog. I’m working on additional kids print designs and stationery this week. I’ve been re-organizing the home office (due to insomnia) and although I know my house looks neat and (mostly) clean I still feel like it’s in shambles. I cannot abide clutter, but that hasn’t prevented me from acquiring three proper Monica closets. Really.

This weekend I have plans to make my first messenger bag. It will be mostly re-purposed materials, which I’ll be picking up today. On another office related note, I’m almost ready to show you my “new” work spaces; a project that began in January. I actually took before pictures (yay me) so I’ll post before and afters once I feel the space is completely ready (probably 2012, ha!).

Speaking of Muppets (we are ALWAYS speaking of Muppets, btw) have you seen this Muppet Whatnot Workshop at FAO Schwarz?! HOWFREEKINGAWESOMEISTHIS?!

we have lift off

Hello Gorgeous!

Etsy has streamlined the user/seller interface quite a bit since the shop was last active (almost 2 years ago)! I was surprised how fast everything came together and it’s looking pretty spiffy. I’m currently working on more printable loveliness and will add it this weekend. Happy Monday all and have a great week!
