listen :: the honey trees

It’s the weekend and I have so much to do. Going to (finally) update the shop.  I know, every three day weekend I say that but I mean it this time. I’ll post about what’s new on Monday (which hopefully you won’t be too hungover to read on Tuesday). In fact, I’m working right now! So, this will be a super short post. I’ve included some music from The Honey Trees to make up for the shortyness.

(Yeah, I make up words– get used to it.)

listen :: sky sailing

Today at lunch I listened to Sky Sailing (sigh). It helped calm me down. I’ve felt a little out of sorts since yesterday and had to do some unexpected furniture rearranging…which will need some additional rearranging. Overall, it was a good weekend. I plan to have a productive week, being the last and busiest week of the month I guess I have no choice in the matter, ha!

listen :: Deer Tick

What do you listen to while you are working on a project? Do you have a go-to mix you rely on to get you into a creative mood? I have a few playlists I use frequently from angry to calm (hello Enya) but lately I’ve been listening to just one long playlist, all (yes, entirely) Deer Tick. The Providence, Rhode Island based band includes John McCauley, Ian O’Neil, Rob Barry Crowell, Chris Ryan, and Dennis Ryan. They’ve got a retro/raw/folk rock feel (in my opinion). I got hooked on Deer Tick after I saw this performance on Davis Letterman in June. You can check out their Facebook page for songs and a schedule of tour dates.

listen :: marnie alton

“Once upon a time, a princess named Marnie Alton was born in the far off kingdom of Ka Nuh-dah. Since her inception she was trained in the ancient tribal arts of the Elk and Beaver clans. The Elders immediately recognised her mesmerizing poetic voice as well as her immense natural talents and proficiency with the guitar, stunt driving, bear wrestling, wolf cub raising, eagle mentoring, hand to hand combat and all around badassery. It didnt take long before she was raised to the prominent status as Official Assistant to the Mountee Court Minstrel. Nor did it talke long before she was banished to the Southlands for her refusal to bear furry children. It is now in the southern deserted Land of Angels governed by Austrians, she hopes to find refuge.”

The Bio section of MarnieAlton.com made me giggle so I stole it and posted it here for you.
